SurfactGreen was created in 2016 by 2 inventors and 4 entrepreneurs. As a result, SurfactGreen is a an experienced team of founders and co-owners cumulating 170 years of experience in chemistry, 90 years in international business development and start-ups and finally 90 years in green chemistry academic research.

Xavier (INSEAD Executive MBA, BA Sales and Marketing) has held various positions (Supply Chain, VP Sales and Marketing, VP Operations and Managing Director) in different countries. Mainly focused on international development, he has also been involved in food, agro-business, renewable energy and fine chemistry.

Thierry Benvegnu

Thierry (PhD in organic chemistry at ENSCR, postdoctoral studies at the Stanford University in USA) is professor, specialized in the design of 100% bio-based surfactants. He received 6 awards and published more than 80 scientific papers. He published also 18 patents and is the co-author of several books.

Jacques (PhD in biotechnology) has firstly held operational positions in R&D in international pharmaceutical companies. Since 2002, he is involved in set up (from initial idea up to IPO on alternext) and operational management of innovative start-ups in cleantech, greentech and biotech.

Daniel Plusquellec

Inventor and founder

Daniel is former Dean of Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Rennes (ENSCR), and former President of Fédération Gay-Lussac. Currently, he is Emeritus Professor and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK). He has published more than 130 scientific papers, patents and is the co-author of several books.

Daniel Danjean


Daniel (engineer ENSC Toulouse) has 25 years of experience as business developer for international chemical distributors. Indeed, he is an expert in surfactant applications such as cosmetic, detergent, paint, building, printing and agroscience. He is also expert in formulation, registration, labelling and has also a diploma of trainer FFP.

Clémentine Martin Lepicard

Regulatory and Commercial Affairs Officer

Clementine previously worked in different companies in the personal care and cosmetic industry with 15 years of experience in commercialization of cosmetic raw materials. Lately Clementine was technico commercial focused on customer oriented. She is now responsible of cosmetic market segment.

Juliette Daniel

Trainee in Digital Marketing and Communication

Juliette is preparing a master’s degree in Strategy and Digital Marketing at the INSEEC School of Business and Economics of Paris. She is in charge of the development of the digital strategy of SurfactGreen through the marketing and the communication.

Jenny Corless

Head of Marketing and Global Business Development

Jenny spent the past 12 years in Global Marketing at L’Oréal USA developing and managing the long-term innovation strategies for leading haircare, skincare brands and cofounding a digital startup. Jenny is a native English speaker and fluent in French and Spanish.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from the University of Paris VI and Masters in Business and Cosmetic Chemisty from ISIPCA. She is in charge of the international development of SurfactGreen.

SurfactGreen team : Freddy Pessel

Freddy Pessel

R&D Engineer

Freddy is a chemical engineer from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Rennes (ENSCR). Moreover, Freddy also owns a PhD in Green Organic Chemistry from University Paris-Sud. Lately, Freddy worked for 2 years on the development of surfactants from brown algae. Freddy is currently working on the optimization and production of biobased cationic surfactants.

Cédric Boyère

R&D Engineer

Cédric earned a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Liège (Belgium). He managed research projects in organic chemistry, green chemistry including CO₂ technologies and developped original libraries of sugar-based surfactants. Currently, Cédric is working on the development of anionic surfactants by green chemistry.

Pauline has a PhD in polymer science from the University of Bordeaux, where she also studied polymers engineering, colloïds and formulation at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie, de Biologie et de Physique (ENSCBP). She is currently developing biobased surfactants for the road industry.

Francis is a chemical engineer from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille (ENSCL) with expertise in formulation. He is able to rely on his experiences with surfactants used in detergent and agrochemical for the formulation of SurfactGreen molecules.

Cosmetic Formulator

Milène has 5 years experience in R&D cosmetic formulation, especially in haircare, skincare and make up applications. She is in charge to set up the new cosmetic application laboratory at SurfactGreen.

Alice Marsault

Chemical Technician

Alice studied analytical chemistry and R&D formulation in Poitiers and Orleans universities. She is in charge of surfactants characterization.

Florent Loisel

Trainee Formulation Engineer

Florent is currently preparing a master’s degree in formulation and data mining at the university of Cergy-Pontoise. He works on the application of our molecules through different formulas of detergent and cosmetics.
